Good Office
Strategic advisor for established architectural practices.
About Me
Like you,
I went to uni and did the hard yards.
I got registered.
I went out on my own and started designing projects and doing the work.
But—probably unlike you—
I live for the other side of architecture.
The business that underpins it.
The organisation that makes good work possible.
After a few years of running my own practice, I started helping other directors manage theirs.
I loved it - even more than running projects.
So I kept going—supporting teams, clarifying direction, building systems that stick.
That work became Good Office.
Good Office helps directors like you get perspective, find direction, and build sustainable ways of working—so you can do good work and have the headspace to enjoy it.
Articles
I’ve been writing articles about practice strategy and management for years. I’ve recently moved some of them over to Substack.
How I Work
Contact
I’ve learned that architects get better outcomes from clearly-defined projects than from open-ended coaching. So everything I offer is structured around a focused piece of work with a clear beginning, middle, and end.
The content shifts depending on your practice — but these are the most common starting points.
Practice Diagnostic
A clear read on how your practice is actually working — across vision, culture, clients, and delivery. Interviews, surveys, conversations, and a well-documented report that shows what’s working, what’s not, and where to focus next.
Strategy Playbook
Most architects aren’t quite sure where to start with strategy.
My approach keeps it practical: we look back at what’s worked, explore what’s possible, and shape a model of practice you can actually use. You get a clear 12-month playbook with priorities, rhythms, and a way to keep the practice moving in the right direction.
Cultural Health
As practices grow, the work gets messy.
I help you understand how things really run, clarify roles, set up a middle layer, and introduce simple rhythms that support good work without adding bureaucracy.
Fees, Clients & Engagement Design
Better fees come from clarity, confidence, and good design — not bravado. I help sharpen your positioning, define good-fit clients, and improve how you qualify, scope, and structure engagements, so your team can do their best work without being stretched thin.
